A preview of the upcoming TGL experience at SoFi Center.

Respectfully

It may be a year late but TGL is coming. And directly to your television.

TGL, the long-awaited mixed reality golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy has finally announced its schedule, which begins Tuesday, January 7 on ESPN, in the first season. That night’s action will feature New York Golf Club – Xander Schauffele, Cam Young, Matt Fitzpatrick and Rickie Fowler – going up against The Bay Golf Club – Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee and Shane Lowry.

Wait, where are Woods and McIlroy, the two biggest stars in the game, who founded the league? Good question. Woods is reserved for the second week of TGL action, on January 14, when his team of Max Homa, Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner will play at the Los Angeles Golf Club – Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose. It will also be on ESPN, which is scheduled to come the day after the NFL playoff game on the network card and promote several hours of the most important advertisement in front of the NFL audience. . McIlroy’s fans will have to wait until January 27 to see his golf game, when he will face off against Woods.

The made-for-TV, mixed-reality golf league TV schedule is very ambitious (you can read it in full below). The site hopes to replicate the incredible views ESPN gets in January from soccer fans and give them something we’ve never seen before. All games will be played in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., at a purpose-built facility called the SoFi Center. Sixty-five percent of the games will appear on ESPN, including all of Tiger Woods’ games.

Schedule made for strict management. The players involved have theirs full-the truth The golf schedule will work around the clock, and the entire league schedule will be completed before the first major tournament of the year, The Masters, in early April. That means making more trips to the PGA Tour in Florida in February.

Monday, February 17 – Presidents’ Day – is set to be a big day in the league’s early history. It will feature only one title of the season, including two games featuring Justin Thomas’ team, Atlanta Drive GC, and two games featuring The Bay GC. The Presidents’ Day games are a no-nonsense endorsement for these guys to be busy. The three-header comes a day after the end of the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles — the Signature Event likely to include most, if not all of the TGL competitors — but a week. of Mexico Open, another event that won’t include any TGLers. That means if Collin Morikawa wins Genesis in LA, he’ll be expected to be across the country 14 hours later, hitting balls on a big simulator screen in Southern Florida.

How to see it in person

Golf fans will be given plenty of opportunities to tune in to TGL, but what about seeing the action in person? The SoFi Center was built specifically to hold the league — with a 3,400-square-foot screen and a short playing field — in front of a live audience. Overall, TGL compares the indoor space to “about the size of a football field,” leaving room for 1,500 fans to sit. Or wait.

The cost of being one of 1,500 for one game starts at $160. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. ET on Oct. 29, but will be available for pre-sale on Oct. 28.
